Amanda Wilson’s journal chronicles her life during the first year of the Civil War.

The Cincinnati woman participated in her city’s activities as it struggled to meet war’s challenges.

Though Amanda supported her nation’s cause, the twenty-nine-year-old agonized over the safety of her husband and brother, both volunteer soldiers.

Each of Amanda Wilson’s entries will draw us closer to this remarkable woman, and her life in Cincinnati.

Her joys and sorrows will affect us, almost as if she were a close friend.

Even though Wilson’s thoughts were written almost 150 years ago, it will be as if Amanda is alive and sitting in a chair right next to us!
